The
essence of the concept is the development of
an estate with an international profile.
Current trends in the tourist industry tend
towards health and fitness related leisure
resorts. Tourists in a foreign location seek
greater involvement with local traditions,
culture, and activities that are physically
challenging. Increasingly people will
choose destinations like Mauritius not
because of their passive tropical ambiance,
but because of recreational and cultural
pursuits that are on offer.
The
project includes a piece of land 200
hectares in size, with frontage onto Mont
Choisy beach, access to the Grand Baie
waterfront area. A large project like this
must necessarily be phased. The heart of the
estate will be the original Mont Choisy
Colonial House and Stables. These will be
redeveloped as a golf clubhouse and golf
lodge, and will form the focus of two 18
hole championship golf courses.
Associated
with each course will be residential estates
whose properties will be graded in value
according to their proximity to the lagoon,
the golf courses and privacy from each
other. Houses which have gardens overlooking
the course will obviously hold greater value
that those that do not. Those that have the
privilege of privacy, as well as lagoon and
golf course views will hold the most
valuable ‘Super Platinum’ status. A marina
based leisure development with a waterfront
centre and recreational facilities is to
become the energy focus at the core of the
estate.
